Description: Vintage July 1966 issue of LIFE Magazine, in good condition. The issue consists of an 25-pg story about the Watts Riots, its aftermath and a group called “The Simba Wachanga of the Organization Us” or “The Young Lions”. There is no address label on the cover, as well as a few small bends/tears throughout. Cover is torn down the middle.
About: The Simba Wachanga of the Organization Us (or The Young Lions) was formed in 1965 by Maulana Karenga inspired by the Simba, young freedom fighters in the Congo. SIMBA is also an acronym for “Safe In My Brother’s Arms”.
