About: Jet Magazine was founded by Johnson Publishing Co in 1951 as a digest initially billed as the "Weekly Negro News." Redd Foxx called Jet "the negro bible" and its writers are historically known for their chronicling of the most important moments in the black community during the 20th century, like Emmett Till's murder to the civil rights movement of the 1960's. JET magazine halted their print publishing in 2014, but their legacy of centering black experiences and narratives lives on today.
